Imperial Oil

Represented under the Esso ™  brand, Imperial Oil is a national refiner-marketer in Canada. Their web site has a useful station locator to assist in travel planning. Outside of Canada’s major cities, most Esso gas stations are managed by a number of third-party regional distributors, not by Imperial Oil directly.

Petro-Canada

Petro-Canada is Canada’s second-largest downstream company with refining and supply operations, retail and marketing networks, and a specialty lubricants business,  with a network of more than 1,500 retail and wholesale outlets across Canada.

Shell Canada

Shell Canada Limited is a nationally represented integrated refiner-marketer, wholly owned by Royal Dutch Shell plc. Shell operates two Canadian refineries, in Montreal, and near Edmonton, with processing capacities of 130,000 and 100,000 barrels per day respectively. It’s web site includes useful information about fuel pricing.

Chevron

Chevron Canada is a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S. based Chevron Corp. Its Canadian downstream operations include a 55,000 barrel per day refinery in Burnaby, BC and a retail convenience network of over 150 stations in BC.

Suncor Energy

Suncor has extensive upstream interests in Canada, and under its Sunoco ™ retail brand,  is a downstream refiner-marketer in Ontario, with a 70,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Sarnia, and a 93,000 bbl/d refinery in Commerce City, Colorado. Suncor has recently announced plans to merge with Petro-Canada.

Irving Oil

With over 700 retail sites, Irving Oil is a leading refiner-marketer in Eastern Canada, Quebec, and the New England states. Its Saint John refinery produces over 300,000 barrels per day of petroleum products. A unique resource on Irving’s website are Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for a number of refinery products including gasoline and diesel fuel. Irving and Couche-Tard are in a partnership whereby Couche-Tard operate over 250 of the Irving retail convenience sites.

Husky Energy

Husky owns and operates a 12,000 bbl/d refinery in Prince George BC and a 160,000 bbl/d refinery in Lima, Ohio, in addition to a 50 percent stake (with BP) in a 150,000 bbl/d refinery in Toledo, Ohio. Under the Husky and Mohawk brands, Husky operates over 430 retail convenience sites from BC to Ontario, in addition to bulk and cardlock facilities.

Couche-Tard

Couche-Tard is the largest convenience store operator in Canada with a network of over 2,000 stores in Canada and more than 3,000 additional stores in the U.S.

Pioneer Petroleums

With over 140 retail service stations in Ontario, Pioneer is one of that province’s largest non-refiner petroleum marketers.

Parkland Income Fund

Parkland Income fund is a non-refiner marketer of retail and wholesale fuels and convenience stores, with over 585 retail fuel and convenience store businesses under Fas Gas Plus, Race Trac Gas, Esso, and Short Stop Food Stores.

Domo

Domo Gasoline Corporation is a Winnipeg-based non-refiner marketer that operates or supplies over 100 sites across Western Canada, mostly under its Domo brand.

Federated Cooperatives Limited (FCL)

FCL provides products and services to its roughly 260 retail cooperative member-owner organizations in Western Canada, including petroleum products supplied from a 100,000 bbl/d refinery based in Regina, SK, and owned by a subsidiary of FCL.

Ultramar

Ultramar Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation. Ultramar’s operations include a 265,000 bbl/d refinery near Quebec City, and over 860 retail convenience sites in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Ultramar’s web site includes a process diagram for its refinery, which illustrates a typical refining pathway from crude oil to gasoline.

Wilson Fuels

A non-refiner gasoline retailer and supplier, Wilsons Gas Stops operate 43 company service stations, 9 Wilsons Gas Stops and 34 Esso stations. They distribute to 282 dealers in Atlantic Canada.
